about the artist
My interdisciplinary studio practice consists of collecting discarded second-hand items that once carried importance to other people and re-creating them into paintings, assemblages and sculptures. Using repetition, color, texture, and design I depict the broken, used, and rejected... creating messages of hope that are congruent and symbolic to human life, as we ourselves make mistakes, and deem areas of ourself hopeless or unusable. In a world so quick to throw things away, I carry a fascination with the concept of time lost, regeneration and purpose, and see tremendous value in redefining the forgotten.
